Who we are
PetrolBud is operated by Versace Group Pty Ltd (ACN 634 426 494), an Australian-registered company. We're an independent team — not owned by a fuel retailer, not part of a network, not funded by any petroleum company. That independence matters, because our job is to make the numbers visible, not to explain them away.
Why we built it
Fuel is one of the few purchases most drivers make every week without ever seeing the price before they pull in. Prices change several times a week. Two stations on the same street can differ by 20 cents per litre on the same day. Yet the entire retail fuel ecosystem depends, in practice, on drivers not checking — on the tank being empty, the destination being too far, the price board being glanced at through the windshield. The industry relies on that.
PetrolBud exists so that drivers don't have to rely on guesswork. Our single philosophy — check before you fill — isn't a slogan, it's the product. Open the app, see the real price at the stations near you right now, and drive to the cheap one. Over a year, that difference pays for a lot of groceries.
How we're different
- Government APIs, not scraping. We pull from authorised public feeds — NSW FuelCheck, WA FuelWatch, SA Fuel Pricing, QLD Open Data, the DOE Philippines weekly advisory — instead of scraping retailer pages. That means higher accuracy and better legal footing, and we don't break when a retailer redesigns their website.
- Eight countries in one app. Australia, Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Cambodia — not a regional cluster of separate apps you have to switch between when you cross a border.
- Community verification layer. Drivers report pump prices from the forecourt in seconds. Reports go live instantly and supplement the government feed between official updates. Contributors earn points on the community leaderboard.
- Free, with no account required. The full price board, map, search, navigation and sharing all work without signing in. Premium is a power-user upgrade, not a paywall.
Coverage
61,247 stations at time of writing, growing every week as the import pipeline processes new government releases. Coverage varies by country: dense in Australia and Philippines (where official feeds exist), lighter in places where no public data is published and we rely on HERE / OpenStreetMap for station location plus community pricing.
How we handle data
Every station shows a freshness indicator: green for prices updated within six hours, amber for up to 24 hours, red for older data. No pretending a Tuesday price is still current on Friday. Every fuel row shows where the number came from — government feed, community pump report, or official weekly advisory. You see the age, you see the source, you make the call.

How we make money
Two things: a light ad unit on the free tier, and PetrolBud Premium ($4.99/month or $39.99/year), which removes ads, adds price-drop push alerts on favourited stations, unlimited favourites, and 30-day price history. We don't sell user data. We don't sell location data. We don't share driver routes with retailers. If you want that commitment in writing, it's in the privacy policy.
